I thought this mechanic was honest and really liked the staff until they tried to charge me $900-950 for a radiator. I'm a female, so I called my dad to ask what I should do. He said to ask them how much labor was per hour and then order the parts online myself. That ended up being around $450 calculated out. When I told Honest Auto that was what I was going to do, that got all nervous like "oh wait a second uhhh..how but uh..we will drop that price down to $500." Then mumbled something about how online prices are competitive. While i'm happy they decided to drop the price they should not be overcharging that much!! I have since found a much better family owned mechanic, Arthur's Automotive &Upholstery.

Bring your car here! They are so kind, helpful and informative. They try to keep it as cheap as possible. My engine shield ripped off and other shops quoted me 100 dollars, but Jason did it for free, as it was such a simple procedure. They are called HONEST for a reason.

I've been using Honest-1 for many years because they truly are HONEST! There was the time I brought my car in for a check up because it had been so long since my car had been serviced and they handed me my keys and told me "No charge," because there was nothing wrong.

Condescending, misleading, rude - especially Robert. We brought our car in with several dash board lights, intending to get the “Free engine check light scan” prominently advertised on the website. We live in the neighborhood, so this was convenient as well. The repair bill included a $120 “diagnostic charge” for the “Free engine check scan”. When we challenged this (which is in size 6 font on the website), we were told “Some shops have a free scan - we don’t do that.” Further, they charged more than twice the cost for the part (Brake light switch) than was readily available on-line. 15 miles down the road - yup - two dash lights came back on. On the subsequent phone call (By my wife) and my return to the shop we found Robert condescending and patronizing in his explanations. He started off his introduction to me by saying, “I was expecting a woman, who are you?” He was abrupt and defensive. Robert even wags his head while giving you a sing-song explanation of your vehicle diagnosis. Ugh. Ultimately they completed the repair by re-setting the sensor. Keith came to me as I was leaving and apologized for not completing the job yesterday. Even shook my hand. He was courteous and professional. But what an awful experience on the whole.

They always get me in right away, or if I have to wait it’s not long, friendly service and great prices. I always go here for oil changes and and other maintenance my car needs. Thanks for the quick headlight change Jason!

I needed a taillight repaired so I decided to check this place out since I live nearby. I spoke with Jason, who was very friendly and very knowledgeable. He helped me get it fixed up immediately. Great customer service and a quick turnaround. I would recommend coming here first if you need any repairs.

My first time at Honest One Auto Care on Stark Street, Portland Oregon was for an oil change. Sevice agent, Jason, was very polite and efficient. The mechanic who did the oil change said he always, double and triple checks everything he does, to make sure all caps and the like are in their place. What I liked the best was the little waiting room. A few things for kids, magazines to browse, and a nice TV, Xfinity, I was able to watch my favorite morning shows while waiting. YES - I will go back.

I always feel like they are honest with me and trying to keep costs down.

I waited a while to write this review, because I wanted to be sure my gut feeling was right. I brought my Jeep Cherokee in over the summer for some knocking sounds in my suspension. I ended up getting control arms, some other bushings and a wheel bearing. Drove away and the knocking sound was immediately happening again. I sighed and just went home, as I didn't have another day to leave my vehicle there and figured I'd go home and look at things and compare to the invoice and see if everything was fixed and they just didn't know what the sound actually was. Everything looked right, so I didn't bother going back. I just had my Jeep in to another mechanic today and he noticed the control arm bushings were cracked. He said nothing to worry about really, it's still ok to drive it but it's weird that there's new control arms, and old bushings. Why would they not replace the bushings when replacing control arms? Makes no sense.

I called the store and spoke with Jason 10 minutes before arriving at Honest-1. I needed a new headlight and he gave me a reasonable quote so I headed over. Once I got there he was with me in less than two minutes, changed out the bulb in about three minutes and sent me on my way! It was the fastest and most efficient auto mechanic experience I’ve ever had in my life! Albeit it was the day after Christmas so I imagine it was slow for a Wednesday but I will absolutely go there next time I need any work done! The service was exceptional, the mechanic was polite and down to earth and it all happened so fast I spent more time driving there than anything else!
