Make sure to call around. Just got a quote for $460 for an upstream O2 sensor replacement. It's an $85 part and 10 minutes of labor.

I am sorry to hear your concerns. I checked my system and found you or a quote for you is not in our system. Please let us know if we can help you.

My brakes had been squeaking for a bit so I dropped my car off here to have them replaced. It was around 3pm when I dropped my car off and I was told they could be inspected that day, but they likely wouldn’t be worked on until the next day. At 4pm they called me to tell me that my brakes were fine- that they still had 6-8mm left on them and they didn’t need to be replaced at this time. They even tested out the brakes and told me the squeaking was likely due to dust or cheap pads from the previous repair shop. I ended up having my tires rotated and picked up my car the next day- my bill was less than $30 and the brake inspection was free! I appreciated so much, how honest the shop was with me. They could have replaced everything, charged me $250 and I would never have known that I didn’t need the service. I think that deserves 5 stars. Thank you!

A couple months ago I took an 07 Jeep Compass in to have the check engine light diagnosed at the 20th and Stark location in SE Potland. They pulled the code and determined the cause for the indicator was the catalytic converter was below threshold on bank one and recommended we replaced the cat along with both upstream and downstream oxygen sensors with factory Jeep parts. I agreed with the diagnostics report because I had scanned it myself before I brought it in to the shop. I understand they have to charge me for the diagnosis because that takes time and I have no problem with that. After the repair the check engine light was still on. They informed me that I had to run it through very particular drive cycles in order to pass the monitors (self tests the vehicle's computer performs while being driven) in order for the check engine light to turn off. We complied with all the driving conditions for approx a month and the light never went out. I brought the car back to the same location to inquire why the light remained on and to see if it were a 3 year 35k mile warranty issue. The manager Jason told me he would have one of the technicians figure it out. He told me there was a new code present. This time it was an intake manifold runner control valve code and I now owed him another $125 diagnostic fee for figuring it out. First off i never agreed to have to have it diagnosed the second time. I brought it in to see if the same code was present to determine if it were a warranty job. And secondly I'm not entirely sure they actually diagnosed the issue or just hooked up the scanner and pulled the code. Generally when you get a vehicle diagnosed at a shop they will let you know what the issue is and give you a parts and labor quote for the repair. After having the vehicle for a couple days there was still no quote and they required payment to release the vehicle to me. I sat in the lobby and called the NW jeep myself to get the pricing on the new intake manifold unit and wrote it down on invoice. It took all of like 10 min to get the parts information on my own and they still never gave me a quote on the labor portion of the job even though I had already paid for this service. At this point I was incredibly disappointed in the way they conducted themselves especially to a customer that just spent well over $1000 on a repair that still wouldnt get the jeep through DEQ. Now I know engines and on this particular model the intake manifold has to be removed in order to pull the catalytic converter to perform the initial repairs. Now if the intake manifold code was not present before their technician had removed it, I would consider this a warranty issue. Now if they had informed me that the intake manifold needed to be replaced while they were replacing the cat I would have been more than happy to replace it while the engine was apart. However the manifold code was not on until after they disturbed it. I don't feel like I should have to pay for a part that was fine before it was remove and I certainly dont feel it's ok to charge me labor on a part that could have been replaced while it was already removed from the vehicle to replace the catalytic converter. Now when I explained this to them they basically told me tough luck now pay us the diagnosis fee. I could have went to Autozone and had them scan it for free. There was nothing on the diagnosis report except for the code. No read outs, no values, no specs just a code. Why should I pay them if they couldnt even provide me with a quote. Whatever, I paid them left. After taking a week or two to review the situation to make sure I was within my rights, I emailed the corporate office not once nor twice but three times with no response. Now I'm sure they get all kinds of emails and they are only human but I found this to be incredibly unprofessional and difficult to swallow. I'm clearly not going to see any justice from the shop level or from the corporate level. So the only other thing I can think is to take this to the legal system and/or letting the public know how they conduct business. The man who own this location also own several other Honest 1 locations in oregon. I would highly consider doing some research before choosing a shop. Don't get me wrong they have very skilled and knowledgeable technicians however, since they got a new manager it no longer about the customer and the vehicle it's about increasing the profit margins at the expense of their integrity.

I thought this mechanic was honest and really liked the staff until they tried to charge me $900-950 for a radiator. I'm a female, so I called my dad to ask what I should do. He said to ask them how much labor was per hour and then order the parts online myself. That ended up being around $450 calculated out. When I told Honest Auto that was what I was going to do, that got all nervous like "oh wait a second uhhh..how but uh..we will drop that price down to $500." Then mumbled something about how online prices are competitive. While i'm happy they decided to drop the price they should not be overcharging that much!! I have since found a much better family owned mechanic, Arthur's Automotive &Upholstery.

Bring your car here! They are so kind, helpful and informative. They try to keep it as cheap as possible. My engine shield ripped off and other shops quoted me 100 dollars, but Jason did it for free, as it was such a simple procedure. They are called HONEST for a reason.

I've been using Honest-1 for many years because they truly are HONEST! There was the time I brought my car in for a check up because it had been so long since my car had been serviced and they handed me my keys and told me "No charge," because there was nothing wrong.
